Voters view Harris more favorably than they did in July: AP-NORC poll
A new poll finds voters view Vice President Kamala Harris slightly more favorably than they did in July, just after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. The survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that the Democratic presidential nominee is now seen more positively than negatively. Former President Donald Trump’s favorability ratings remained steady, although the poll was conducted prior to the apparent assassination attempt of the Republican nominee on his golf course in Florida on Sunday. Even a small uptick in Harris’ favorability rating is a positive sign for the Democratic candidate. Shifts in favorability ratings for national figures like Biden or Trump have been rare over the past few years.

'A big problem for Republicans': High favorability moves Harris-Walz ahead
A key factor in the steadily rising poll numbers for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz is a buoyant favorability rating with American voters, an advantage Donald Trump does not share. Harris hopes to turn Ukraine war into winning issue in battle with Trump for Polish American votes
Vice President Kamala Harris is pushing a new initiative to connect with Polish American voters. It's a key community that's swung between Democrats and Republicans over the years, and it's centered in battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Her campaign hopes to capitalize on Donald Trump's hesitancy to support Ukraine during last week's debate. Trump is also courting Polish American voters, and is visiting a shrine on Sunday at the same time as Polish President Andrzej Duda. Although Polish Americans are not a particularly large demographic, many of them live in the so-called “blue wall” states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania that are critical to victory for either candidate. Harris is visiting all three this week.

Kamala Harris steps up outreach to Mormon voters in battleground Arizona
Vice President Kamala Harris is stepping up her efforts to win over voters who belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Democratic presidential nominee is enlisting prominent members of the faith to make the case in the battleground state of Arizona that Donald Trump doesn’t align with the church’s values. Harris’ Arizona campaign on Thursday announced an advisory committee to formalize its work to engage current and former members of the church, widely known as the Mormon church. Latter-day Saints make up 6% of Arizona's population and could be pivotal in deciding a close race.

Springfield residents pray for post-debate political firestorm to blow over
In the quiet corners of Springfield, Ohio — out of sight of the drumbeat of politicians, journalists, troopers and newly installed security cameras — people are attempting to carry on. Between the morning bomb sweeps of Springfield’s schools and the near daily afternoon media briefings, a hush comes over the city that residents say is uncanny, haunting even. They're dismayed at being transformed overnight into a target for the nation’s vitriol. Residents say people are hunkered down and hoping the attention sparked by former President Donald Trump spreading unsubstantiated rumors about the city’s legal Haitian immigrants eating house pets during last week’s presidential debate will blow over.
