I feel sad for people who rely on #BBC #TheGuardian #nytimes #CNN as a source of #news to understand the world.

Their worldview is that of a person in #PlatosCave - trying to make sense of an increasingly complex world by looking at a set of carefully curated shadows; the courage needed to crawl out of the cave euthanised by their puppet masters lest they be shocked by the level of their own misinformation.

@prasoon yes. And what sources would you recommend?

That's a tough one! There is an India specific site - newsclick.in - that I rely on (the editor/founder was imprisoned by 2 of our gov'ts on false charges 😅). On the Palestine issue, hearing directly from the resistance on Telegram has been very reliable; also ElectronicIntifada, Mondoweiss are brilliant. AlJazeera is somewhat reliable except when reporting on Qatar/UAE. Financial Times usually has their facts right (Op-Eds are terrible). On Russia, China I prefer books and podcasts

On geopolitics I follow a few former diplomats who seem sensible - https://www.indianpunchline.com/ , Chas Freeman. USA/CA - Idk, but lately dropsitenews, propublica (but news from the Empire lacks context even if they get the facts right e.g. DemocracyNow). Then there are a number of radical publications which report from the ground on "sensitive" issues which I won't name.
Tricontinental Institute publishes dossiers from time to time which cover Latin America very well.
