PT and #gym was amazing this morning. I didn’t expect any change and was ok with that. Sometimes it’s nice just to see Kristina and show her what I can do. It started with bench presses and for the 1st time I did 12 reps for all 3 sets. That’s the first time I got to 12 for *any* sets. Then we looked at my Smith machine squats. It was 29kg and I felt comfortable with it going up. Kristina asked me how much I wanted to add. Maybe 5kg? Is that too much? (*we* 😂)
That felt comfortable and Kristina was laughing at me because I “looked really confident at it was clearly comfortable”. Ok. Can we add another 5kg? I mean all I have to do is get to 6. We did and I did 12. Then I did another set. So I went from 29kg to 39kg! That felt wild but I was so excited and a bit pleased with myself. Then we went to look at the seated row. I did my warm up sets and then noticed that Kristine had put my working set to 50kg. #gym
Oh do I do 50kg? You do now! It turned out I banged out 3 sets of 12 of those. So my working weight *only* went up 3.5kg but they felt enough. Finally my abductor/adductor weights went up half a plate (because a whole plate felt too much). It was just such a high. I was bouncing all the way through and Kristina just laughed because I just sucked up everything she threw at me. #gym
I just love my training so much and I love Kristina too. She makes me feel so safe. We have conversations about overthinking (a thing we both do) and how to manage my perfectionism. I’ve only recently realised I’ve gone from “I don’t think I can do that weight *and* get to 12” to “all I have to do is 6 and then work from there. What’s the worse thing that can happen?”. I feel so empowered and it’s incredible. #gym #yearofstrength
