I can see why in practice there are advantages for the people fielding questions: easier embedding into GitHub of issues and less strain on the fabulous folks who keep the project running. BUT ... it feels sub-optimal in principle because it is not a FOSS site but a commercial host (Microsoft). Are there any other solutions?

To be honest I missed the fact that this refers to a front end called “Discussions” and not GitHub itself. This was because I never heard of it. I think a link to a sample site using discussions would help people see if they want to comment. The only problem I have for sure is that this is Microsoft and not sure that FOSS (Free and Open Source Software see e.g. https://youtu.be/ucXYWG0vqqk ) projects are in tune with that (no disrespect to Microsoft - I would say this if the site belonged to an...

@adingbatponder Werden solche Webseiten eigendlich nur von Entwicklern verwendet um ihre Entwicklung zu beschleunigen so einfach wie möglich? Es ist vielleicht Zeit echte Gemeinschaften zu bilden wo Leute sich wirklich treffen und voneinander lernen vor Ort. Eine eigene Webseite ist dann besser um bastel Arbeit zu veröffentlichen als alles den direkt zu schenken auf Ihren GitHub. Man kann den auch die Arbeit überlassen selber herauszufinden was mit Ihren eigen Programmen nicht stimmt.

There’s a local Meshtastic group here near me, we have a WhatsApp chat and have had meetups before.
Another big local group is AustinMesh in Austin Tx, who have regular monthly meetups.
