2 #NYPD officers pursued a fare evasion suspect, then opened fire as he approached them, #police said.

The suspect — who was wielding a knife — was among the four shot, along w/ 2 #NYsubway riders & a fellow responding officer, said NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey at a news conference.

Back in the 1970's I watched as the LAPD shot a naked man who was standing on his front lawn with a knife. The man was just standing, no one was near or in danger. The LAPD just shot him down - over 30 officers were present, many in mufti. They watched and offered no help as the dying man flipped and flopped around for more than half an hour as an ambulance was summed, at rush hour, from downtown LA (a long way away, through heavy traffic) even though we were just a couple of blocks away from UCLA's tier 1 emergency medical center.

I bet that every one of those officers suffered no rebuke.
