Exploring the Museum Data Service and it's really fascinating how already just a quick search is speaking to a theory of mine about the way that regional contributions to the British Empire are a key part of the story that should never be downplayed.

+ certainly did the military aspect, training the generations of soldiers who would be on the front line of expanding and maintaining the Empire.

Given that Norwich was also a centre of the UK printing industry, there's definitely connections with typographic standards, newspapers and thus the spread of information (incl. that of anti-colonial writings), but this is another aspect of the hyperlocal connection that's been highlighted.
