Does anyone in the fediverse have a useful reading for defining intersectionality? I have a couple readings I usually go to when teaching it, but I'd welcome suggestions from anyone with more expertise!

@teamseaslug not a direct answer, but imagine overlapping areas on a page, or separate acetate sheets for a projector.

Each area or sheet does not merge with the next, but if you look in the overlapping area, you are by definition looking at the combination of how both of those materials interfere with the light hitting or passing through each and the next, and reflecting back through the next and each, up to your eyes.

A tomato is a tomato, but a tomato with garlic is going to taste different from a tomato with garlic.

Also look up misogynoir by Kimberlee Crenshaw.

Or like any disability blogger, or F.D Signifier just realised a really good video looking at b/Black masculinity.

@MxVerda Do you have any disability bloggers you might recommend? 👀

Not necessarily for intersectionality either. Disability is a blind spot in my own research and work, and having a good entry point would help.

And #disability #disabilityPrideMonth #accessibility #EaseOfAccess #sensoryImpairment #learningDifficulty (which is not the same as) #LearningDisability except some people also use #SpLD and #neurodivergence in a group could be one #neurodivergent person etc.

You can follow these hashtags or similar ones and try asking there too. Best to get varied perspectives since no one individual experiences everything
