@dhry it has taken me a long time to get used to front-flippers. Some are easier than others for sure. I have the mini-Beluga and it had the sharpest factory edge I've ever seen.

@cetan I was trying to use my index finger to flip it last night. No way was that working. Then late last night I watched a couple of videos where they thumb flipped it. It looked easy. This morning I made the grave mistake of waking up then trying to do the technique. I thumb flipped it half open then did a wrist flick to open it all the way. The wrist flick flipped the blade down onto the middle of my thumb first before opening. Dumb dumb DUMB. Opened up a half inch long gash 😖🩸

@dhry ouch! Not fun. 2 days ago I was doing some impromptu whittling with a knife that has a fairly pronounced upswept tip. I'm used to whittling with something that's more like a drop point or a clip point and I relied on muscle memory for hand placement. Jammed the tip right into my thumb where it stuck momentarily. 😳

@cetan Jeebus. I love PF knives (this is my second, and I have a Bunta showing up in a couple weeks) but unless I can loosen the detent up a little or learn to fuller-flip it this one will be for show only and nowhere near EDC.

That being said I wouldn’t dream of using 95% of my collection for anything other than fidgeting with. I “gollum” over them way too much for that.

@dhry once I got the Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener, I worked on letting those feelings go. It's liberating! (But also difficult sometimes.)

@cetan Got one too! Works far better than I expected it to. I use it along with a big stropping paddle and my Ganzo ProSharp.
