Did you know VoiceOver gestures that require you to tap multiple fingers multiple times don't actually require all the fingers for all the taps? Whichever tap has the most fingers tells it how many fingers to assume for the other taps. Go ahead, try it. Do a 3-finger triple tap, but for the first two taps, only use one finger. Or use 1, then 3, then 2. This doesn't actually help in any way I can think of, but it's neat just the same.
@alexhall You just blew my mind. Not sure when this will be useful, but damn it’s cool.
@alexhall Oh wow I never knew this and I've been using iOS VoiceOver since it first came out.
@KaraLG84 @alexhall I just tried this with the three-finger double-tap, first tap, three, second tap 1 and it works consistently! This is indeed cool!
@alexhall Every day is a school day! 15 years using VoiceOver and I never knew this!
@alexhall whaaaaaaat?
that's just,crazy?
@alexhall @simon yeah i did know that, cause i discovered that by mistake a few years ago. hahaha. it’s handy at.times though, cause if my fingers don’t want to cooperate and hit the screen at exactly the same time, it still works!
@alexhall It's really helpful for me because I have some hand coordination issues sometimes and it's hard sometimes for me to do a three finger quadrupal tap quickly sometimes. It's not severe but is definitely a thing that results in some occasional trouble though so I'm definitely glad this exists.
@alexhall I actually think this can be useful for some of those who may have limited hand movement. I tried both ways, and it is a bit easier to not tap all of the fingers each time.
@Jage That's true. You only have to tap the right number of fingers once. The rest of the time you can just use one finger. Slow down the double tap interval, and this could be quite helpful. I hadn't considered that before.
@alexhall Hmmm, this could be helpful to teach someone, double tap twice and on the last tap use 2 or 3 fingers... It could be a better way to remember jestures!
@alexhall @kev Wow, this could be super useful for folks with dexterity or similar challenges. Especially with adjusted timing. Might also make it easier to do four-finger taps one-handed. Great find. :)
@alexhall This explains why sometimes after double-tapping and doing a magic tap right afterward it performs a two-finger tripple-tap instead! 😲
