The Seattle activist community has been shocked by the news of the murder of Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi at the hands of Israeli snipers in the West Bank. Ayşenur was a student at UW and was active at protests here in Seattle.

She traveled to the village of Beita in the West Bank after graduation to work as a volunteer legal observer documenting the destruction and theft of Palestinian lands in the area.

Earlier in the week Israel prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu proudly used a map of Israel that erased the West Bank. Both at his press conference journalist pressed him on this unusual erasure and again at the Whitehouse press conference journalists questioned this move.

When I first heard about Ayşenur's death I was so upset I could not post about it. I stopped through the University of Washington Palestine protest camp earlier this year and saw comrades old and new.

It was a beautiful work of activism and civic engagement that brought me to tears just spending time with the students.

Everyday in the UW Palestine encampment the students held news sessions covering reports directly from the student's friends and family who were trapped in Gaza or the West Bank during the latest wave of Israeli aggressions.

I don't know if I crossed paths with Ayşenur but I do know that the treatment she and other students faced at the hands of local politicians and school officials was unfair and largely bullshit.

The school officials complained that the students wrote protest statements in chalk on sidewalks, decrying the graffiti. That is when they took breaks from ignoring the students.

The message from US local politicians is clear, they don't care and they want us to protest somewhere else. Bs.

We will always remember Aysenur as the kindhearted, silly, and passionate soul whose face expressed all those qualities. @nullagent I suspect IsraHell is going to pay big-time for this. Biden probably is glad the IOF killed one of us "nettlesome protesters," but he's not the one the IOF's suppliers have to worry about. So far, pro-Palestine activists have pulled a lot of potential punches. My guess is that restraint is OVER with one of our own being murdered.

If the tools of the Cop City campaign were combined with the strategy of the HLS campaign to attack the enablers of genocide, Israel's US-based suppliers would have a hell of a tough fight at home. Probably some of them would drop the IOF as a customer. Note that the Stop Cop City campaign was not stopped by the murder of Tortuguita by Georgia cops, it was greatly intensified.

The Chicago PD years ago moved the statue they had commemorating the cops killed by a bomb (possibly their own) in the Haymarket riots had to be moved into a police station. Why? Because people kept blowing it up. Just during the height of the Vietnam War, it was blown up, patched, and blown up again.

That head would be perfect for dropping into the bed of a major pro-Netanyahu administrator or donor, covered in barbecue sauce like the blood on the horsehead in Godfather.
