Another long distance train trip, another advertisement for buying a car. Our train from Vienna to Budapest got cancelled, the next one is delayed by an hour (and counting). There goes my plan of going to bed early.

#trains #fuckups #Vienna #ÖBB

While waiting, spending some quality time catching up on Austrian politics and the upcoming elections. (Spoiler alert!) Seems like they will elect fascists (FPÖ).
Aaaand the next train got cancelled too. Any passenger rights experts here who know if I can refund a hotel stay, should I decide not take the next next (and last) train, potentially 3x overcrowded?
The Reisezentrum in Vienna is actually amazing. They gave us new seat reservations for the next train, and now for the next next one too. Hope this one will actually depart :)

We thought this cannot get worse until we arrived to the luggage lockers to pick up our bags. Which was broken. 15 minutes to departure.

The person answering the emergency number on the locker said someone will come “soon”. Fortunately a fellow ex-victim gave us the tip to grab a security person, which we did. We got our bags 4 minutes before departure.

Now on the train, which is :drumroll: DELAYED! :D

Aaand we left Vienna with 20 min delay. Passengers literally applauded when the train started moving.
