As I had not many plants I let all pods to full maturity, and now I will try a bit o each in a dish, still thinking on how to cook them.
I want to prevent parasites growth, so I will freeze a few seeds for about 24h for next season.

How are yours @sabinehiller @echopapa ?

@sabinehiller

Currently eaten about 1.2kg of the climbing beans, but l will let ripen enough pods for next year of all sorts. Next week we will check how many beans the non climbing beans have produced. A lot of pods are still rather small and the INCBN_00000 produced only a handful pods per plant.

Hi @drupas @echopapa
Great crops 😍, congratulations!! Unfortunately, here in #Mayo we had one of the worst summers ever - really wet and very little sun. In August we had 3-4 times the average amount of rain 😫 So, my poor beans are only doing so-so. Varieties #00164 (Germany) and #00260 (Mexico) are flowering and fruiting, but whether I get actual ripened seeds remains to be seen. Pics from today
@drupas @echopapa The Greek variety #00445 has gorgeous pink flowers and it's climbing to over two metres high (searching for the sun, no doubt πŸ™„), but no pods yet. September can often be nice, but tonight temperatures are forecast to drop to 2Β°C, so I have covered some of the plants with fleece 🀞Also 'harvested' and cooked 3 small pods of the Mexican variety, but compared with my Jersey bean pods (tunnel) not great in terms of flavour/texture #pulsesincrease #bohnen #beans #legumes
@drupas @echopapa The reference variety is doing ok, not as many pods as the Mexican variety, though

@drupas

My bean scaffold is about 2.5m high, but that's not enough for the climbing beans. There are horizontal rods, but usually they dont like to use them and try to climb further, so this then leads to tendrils that wrap around each other.

All bean plants have pods, the French type and the reference type from the second sowing have only few pods - below 10 per plant. The leaves of the reference bean of the second batch are already withered and the pods are rather dry.

@drupas

The croatian and the german runner beans are growing fine and are still flowering. Until now I have harvested three times a bunch of both bean types, every time about 400g to 500g. That's ok for only 3 or 4 plants. And there are still a lot of pods growing. The south american variety was quite similar to beans during my childhood. A lot of strings at the pods to remove before cooking. But taste was ok.

@echopapa wow, that's a great harvest! Re removing strings from beans, I guess I'm spoiled: the Jersey french beans have no strings, are tender, and with a great flavour. All of the project beans look stringy, so unless the seeds are tasty I wouldn't be pushed to grow them again

@sabinehiller

The german and croatian beans have strings, but very soft after cooking, no need to pull them out. Very few preparation before needed. So I will surely put away some seeds for next year

BTW the Meccearly INCBN_00000 is a Borlotti type of bean (also named cranberry bean). In Italy typically only the dried beans are used without the pods. If the pods are young, you can eat them, but haven't tried it yet. Mature pods are stable, but not very tasty I think.

@echopapa ah, interesting! I grow a climbing Borlotti in the tunnel, not for the pods, but I freeze/dry the delicious seeds, usually I make a Turkish style Barbunya pilaki with them πŸ˜‹
