History of ArtSeptember 3 - the birthday of Irish-born #Canadian painter Paul Kane (1810-1871). He worked mainly in Toronto but traveled as far as the Pacific coast depicting landscapes, Native American subjects, fur traders, and missionaries. His paintings, especially field sketches, were one of the first visual documents of Western indigenous life.
