And it does not specify you only get rewarded after you die. It simply specifies that if we endure what others do to us, we will still be rewarded after death.
But yeah, any religion that believes in an afterlife could technically be called a death cult.

@davey @DamonCrowley digging into the literal sense of the word that it involves a group with similar practices. It's more colloquially used to describe dangerous fringe groups today (which the Roman government most certainly would have considered the early Christians), but its definition is broader than that.
