@DamonCrowley the argument from #chrisianity is that he sacrificed his son who was also an aspect of himself to solve the problem. And it does not specify you only get rewarded after you die. It simply specifies that if we endure what others do to us, we will still be rewarded after death.
But yeah, any religion that believes in an afterlife could technically be called a death cult.

It's more colloquially used to describe dangerous fringe groups today (which the Roman government most certainly would have considered the early Christians), but its definition is broader than that.
