i will never use hashtags
people on tumblr and cohost-type sites will also tell u to tag, but this is a very different kind of tagging experience imo

Amin Hollon 🏳Well, the benefit here is that people can follow a tag, meaning they encounter your stuff based on what they're interested in even if they hadn't known about your account previously. But I get the desire not to use them. For the most part I don't either.

Elan Feingold@jacqueline hash tags are a tool, can be used for good or evil. I like the fact that they can be used to create semantic links between entities in our little universe here.

Also like in the context of fedi it sounds like if I use them on someone else’s post I’m basically paging anyone following that tag to come and look and that might not necessarily be a good thing for the OP
