TIL there were TWO putsch attempts:
1. Kapp Putsch (1920): Led by Kapp and General von Lüttwitz, supported by the Freikorps, descendants of Hessians. Failed due to lack of support by the army and civil servants. This event polarized Germans, resulting in a majority shift after parliamentary elections.
2. Beer Hall Putsch (1923): Led by Hitler, this attempt aimed to overthrow the government by marching to Berlin. Failed after being confronted by police, resulting in Hitler's arrest.
What if #Jan6 was just the •first• insurrection by a failed performance artist?
Is January 2025 the second attempt?
The very impressive thing about Jan 6 2021 in terms of optics was the near total absence of dead bodies and rivers of blood.
My bet is that Trump wanted mass slaughter of Americans live on TV to happen - and thought the bodies would be his suppporters.
Such a sight on American TV screens would have made #45 using his #PresidentialPowers seem reasonable to many.
And would have let Trump take the 2020 election result to his corrupted SCOTUS.
Is there a legalistic path this time?
