At least 91 candidates will be on the ballot for the Sept 16 by-election in LaSalle-Émard-Verdun (Montreal)
79 of the candidates are linked to the 'Longest Ballot Committee', a group who claim they're protesting Canada's voting system. Many who ran in Toronto are on the ballot again in Montreal.
Previous long ballots records: 84 in Toronto (June/24) and 48 in Winnipeg (June/23).

@npilon @gemelliz The Longest Ballot Committee is the most own-goal scoring PR campaign I've ever heard of because long & confusing ballots is one of the main talking points anti-PR campaigns use to reject PR.
That said, they've participated in 5 elections so far - 3 won by the Libs, one won by the Greens, and one won by the Cons.

Slimeball political operatives pulling slimeball tactics. They're trying hard to import the US election industry into Canada. Non-stop fund raising for PACs to pay for non-stop political consultants, non-stop advertising, and non-stop polling. The ones with the deepest pockets win.
The pols had better dig their heads out of their asses and start beefing up election rules to head this shit off. It's already really late.
I'm in Jim Carr's old riding. It's a pretty solidly Liberal one. So after his passing and the by-election was called, that's where these dipshits showed up. Jim's son Ben Carr still managed to hold on to the seat pretty comfortably, but the voting was drawn out far longer than it should have been.
