This stupid covid thing has flared the fibromyalgia up big time. I haven't really had to deal with it since last winter (it tends to be a tad seasonal with me). Any advice would be appreciated. #fibromyalgia

@OldAndCranky

I think my pain is/was due to small fiber neuropathy; there's some discussion in the literature whether or not fibromyalgia and SFN are the same thing or not.

Things that have reduced my pain:

- I went on a low fiber colonoscopy prep diet and was amazed at the pain reduction. Eating only rice, tapioca made with water, and a bit of applesauce is not really sustainable, but if you need a break, it might be worth trying.

- TTFD, a form of thiamine. I had been taking a B-complex with thiamine Hcl for many months prior, so the form seemed to make a difference.

- Sun exposure; I don't mean sunbathing, just going outside in the morning fully clothed.

- Fucoidan. I take LEF brand, 1 cap/day.

- LDN

- Magnesium

Hope you find something that works for you.

@Rhyothemis thank you ! I’m taking notes!

@OldAndCranky

2 Rx drugs often prescribed for chronic pain are pregabalin (Lyrica) and gabapentin (Neurotonin, Gralise etc.). I have not tried either of them.

In huge numbers, older people are taking gabapentin for a variety of conditions, including itching, alcohol dependence and sciatica. “It’s crazy,” one expert said.

@Rhyothemis I take lyrica - it’s very useful.
