How Star Trek: Picard Ruins Star Trek

So I actually did have time and I really concur with everything said in the video. Well done! I do recommend watching Strange New Worlds though, it has charm and some of the old TNG fun, as much as it is possible with NuTrek
@acollierastro Just finished watching this. You did a great job. Greatly appreciated your "AI" video as well.

In my own words, Classic Star Trek wasn't woke, it was progressive. I think people complaining about new Trek being "political" are sometimes legitimately reacting to its insincerity and vacuity, like that of a war profiteer wearing a rainbow on their lapel. New Trek trickles down from culture, it "references" it, just like it references Star Trek.

Star Trek was in reality far more radical, political, whatever: it engaged and led the culture and was a product of its time but strove to be timeless. Contemporary Trek reflects a lack of imagination. It's weighed down, out of timelessness, by the lethargic, contemporary public imagination, of an a moment in time where our single common consensus appears to be our widespread recognition of institutional failure, corruption, and rot.

I only watched the first two seasons, and can barely believe I sat through either of them. Thank you, sincerely, for spoiling Season 3 for me so I never have to watch it.
@ratking @acollierastro i'm watching it now! Might take a few sessions for my adhd brain, but love it so far
@ratking @acollierastro There is absolutely no way I cannot be a Patreon after this fantastic weapon of a video! 🀩
