Finally is ready the extension for #BIM in #Blender, now #Bonsai aka #BlenderBIM is compatible with latest #Blender 4.2.1 LTS version and is awesome, I was waiting it for a while to do some test not related to classic architetture but with boat design. today I will try to make some experiments with it :) #b3d #blender3d https://extensions.blender.org/add-ons/bonsai/

A native Building Information Model authoring platform using IFC

Blender Extensions
@pafurijaz Are you involved in regular AECO projects? What I wonder is if your use of (from now on) #Bonsai replaces using commercially known BIM authoring tools with mature IFC capabilities. I am aware about the native IFC ones from this one, but...
@daviddelven No I am not involved in the sector, but my use is related to different things, I am interested in the nautical, but I would like to use Bonsai to generate drawings of boat, but it will not be easy, Bonsai is used from many small BIM studios, you probably know there is also FreeCAD which can be an alternative and is actively developed, it differs from Blender and is an open source CAD.
For FreeCAD this a reference on the development https://yorik.uncreated.net/

@pafurijaz Construction sector (built assets) projects have relied and used CAD software for decades. The level of refinement of those tools (although improvable) is still far away of the UI/UX from Bonsai or Freecad. The distance is so far that most companies don't think on them as an alternative. On the contrary, the level of feature from them, especially from data enrichment and building, is even higher.
