Ok, accountability time. It’s been a rough year, but I need to get on top of my fitness & weight.

Posting on here because I really do need the push & motivation that socials provide. Also, because you guys are just lovely & encouraging 💐

I’ve picked up the Couch to 5K running app, and am going slowly to shake off old injuries.

Today I started calorie counting, and boy was that a shock! Most of my calories consumed by lunchtime. #LivingWithPKU
#health

Only 300 of those calories were from #PKU supplement so time for me to say good bye to that falsehood.

Also, Goodbye butter & mayonnaise. We had fun times, but you brought middle-aged spread along too and that is just not cool.

@poconnor 🤣🤣 does it matter which butter, like will butter made from sunflower spread make much difference or no?
@soheb so the reduced fat spreads do have a lot less calories- those are going on the shopping list
@poconnor yes!! I love me some sunflower spread (flora it is for me) just because I like being the stinky vegan hippie but so glad it actually pays off in terms of calories as well!

@poconnor talking about accountability, I need to work on dropping my carbs!

I promised my dietitian I would do something about it about 6 months ago, but then continued the old diet of:

Breakfast: bread and hash browns
Lunch: pasta with chips
Dinner: air fried mogo chips with normal chips

Not very healthy, and my dietitian nudged me in the right direction a few days ago. Switched bread and hash browns for salad and baked beans. Lunch pasta has been replaced with cauliflower rice and salad.

@soheb those are great switches!

How many exchanges in the cauliflower rice, please?

@poconnor I say 2 exchanges for one bag of Tesco's cauliflower rice: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/297395359/?icid=ghsandapp_ghs_pdp_share

2.3g of protein per bag, so it is 2 exchanges, but watch out. If you have 2 bags, I would count it as 5 exchanges rather than 4

@poconnor and dinner now will have the pasta and salad. I think that cuts down the carbs (as well as the oil and salt!!) by a huge mole, and will hopefully lead to a healthier lifestyle as well as a less tortured liver (apparently carbs isn't so great on the liver, at least that's the impression my dietitian gave me - or maybe it's the weight?)
