(As a child raised in the deeps of purity culture, “demure” is practically a trigger word. It was used to shut women up, make us smaller, turn us into decorative objects instead of the drivers of our own stories.

So, after surviving the initial shock of seeing “demure” everywhere the last week, I’m delighted by this turn where suddenly demure is gay as heck, and is being used for a *thousand* things that purity culture would hate. It’s a beautiful reversal.)
