So I subscribed to #windydotcom. It's the first weather service I've ever paid for. Comparing different forecast models is a killer feature for me, but I also appreciate that they don't monetize user data, not even in the free plan. Weather services are usually one of the biggest privacy violators.

@sesivany And do you know #ventuskydotcom ? It's a comparable service. Subjectively, my "user experience" from their graphics data presentation is better than on #windydotcom. They are also nice from the privacy perspective, BUT premium features are only in the app. What is interresting is, that its a Czech company - their "headquarters" are in Pilsen few streets from my birthplace :-)
@belohoub I learned about it AFTER I subscribed to #windydotcom Premium. So maybe next year. Ventusky is twice cheaper, that's definitely a plus.
In terms of UX, they all look clunky and cluttered to me. It's not easy to fit all the data on a small screen.
@sesivany Well, yes - I use it exclusively on desktop ...
@belohoub I did checkout #ventuskydotcom quite a lot in the last 2 days and the UI is definitely less clunky and better looking, but I also found some limitations:
The weather forecast for a specific location is fixed to one model which you cannot change AFAIK and there are some good models missing, e.g. Meteoblue and ICON D2. These two have so far been the most accurate for our location.
To sum it up: I wish there was a service with the Ventusky UI and Windy data. :)
@sesivany Thanks for sharing these details :-) I normally use just the web-app for overview, thus the default or CZ Aladin is normally good choice for my use case: and I don't care much ... :-)
@sesivany V Alpách tedy Windy dost selhávalo. Ale to je první a zatím jediná nespokojenost.
@unterwasser Je to hlavně o výběru modelu. Windy zobrazuje jen to, co jim posílají poskytovatelé jednotlivých modelů. Na Alpy je asi nejlepší švýcarské Meteoblue.
