Wait, my #FastSpring store has been deactivated again?

On top of the other deactivation?

What *is* going on here?

Did I mention I haven't heard anything helpful from FastSpring in 6 days now?

In the past I was pleasantly surprised when support would reply on Saturdays. Now that support is useless, I'm waiting for I-don't-know when.

@ctietze That’s bad, hope this gets resolved for you soon!
@ctietze Was there any resolution to this debacle? Did you move away from Fastspring? I had been using Fastspring for my non-AppStore apps for many years, but it sounds like it's time to look for alternatives (Paddle?)
@compositorapp We’re in the improvement reauest phase now still. The resolution was that the email I got was automated in response to credit card fraud prevention — but there’s no notification when they shortly afterwards reopen the store. That would’ve helped, and a better communication of the reason.
@ctietze Yeah Ok, but that still doesn’t sound very reassuring. But thanks for the update.
@compositorapp Paddle I’ve heard all but neglects native apps nowadays, too. Not sure if that’ll be mich of an improvement. Also something regarding customer support popped up in the AppKit Abusers slack channel recently. :(
@ctietze Thanks. Heck, does anybody care about business outside the App Store these days?

@compositorapp I wonder this myself.

Stripe bought Lemon Squeezy earlier this year. LS was used by Seth Godin for access to a private forum/community. I had trouble managing my account and payment details -- as if the remaining 20% of the UI were styled, but not functional.

That really put me off.

But now Stripe is both a payment provider + a merchant of record (with Lemon Squeezy), so using the combo could be all a dev needs nowadays.

@ctietze What a nightmare. I hope there are still things to do to fix this soon...

@ctietze uh thank god I left Fastspring many years ago after I reported a (in my opinion critical) security issue that allowed customers to access invoice & license data from other customers and they basically told me "works as intended, won't fix"

So far I haven't encountered any issues with Paddle and in my cases their support is still fast

@llo_ai Oof that also doesn’t sound good. Guessing order numbers by brute force?
@ctietze yep, although there was not much force needed back then 😅. I think at some point they improved it, after I asked some of their bigger customers to report it as well.
