Dear Annie: Should I have to pay for my son’s food when he’s visiting a friend’s house?

No, but if the parents insist, go ahead and pay them for the food. Then, instruct your son to find the master bathroom in their house and take a big ol’ rancid dump in there. State law requires public restroom facilities in restaurants, so if they want to charge for food, they’ll need to accommodate.
