The dehumanization of the homeless has brought us to a point where existing without a home is now a criminalizable offense. That means poverty is being criminalized, public space is increasingly inaccessible, and existence is becoming harder for all of us. We have to resist, both in action and in shifting the paradigm away from the dehumanization of our fellow human beings who struggle in this capitalist world.

The Homeless are not Alone

I just saw another video of Gavin Newsom personally stealing the possessions of homeless people and throwing them out.

New Means

@joshuaphilll I was visiting some inlaws recently and a friend of theirs stopped in (old cis white dude) and seemed pretty level-headed until he started talking about the homeless.

"I say give them 3 strikes to sort themselves out, then we give them the needle! That'll solve the problem!"

I don't know what my expression was, but he mentioned later to the host, "Gosh, I think I scared them with my homeless solution."

@paulywill @joshuaphilll yeah, someone should tell him “when you casually talk about killing strangers who you deem beneath you - like a sociopath, it tends to frighten our houseguests.”
@ironcladlou @joshuaphilll I’ll have to keep that in mind next time I meet this sort of argument (sadly it’s common).
