It is killing me that suddenly the Conservatives want us to engage with them in good faith, and leadership is finally saying, NO. You want a 13 year old to give birth or a woman to get sepsis before she can get an abortion, you're being gross and weird. We should have never have left this up for debate.

@RickiTarr

when you engage the #GOP in good faith, they whine you can't have a new #scotus justice in a presidential #election year

#centrist #democrats folded, milquetoast, weak, and we got #gorsuch instead of #garland replacing #scalia

scalia died feb '16, gorsuch confirmed apr '17

then they hammer through a new supreme court justice with an election 2 months out, #barrett replacing #ginsburg

ginsburg died sep '20, barrett confirmed oct '20

the GOP only deserves ash. fuck them forever

@benroyce EXACTLY, no more good faith
@RickiTarr @benroyce
Yup, time to kick some ass. Some people will *never* compromise. Those who wish to protect fundamental rights must respond in kind.

@benroyce @RickiTarr
Every day, I am more and more for expanding the number of justices on the court. The constitution does not specify the number of justices. Why 9? That used to be the number of circuits. Now there are 13. Why did we stay with 9?

I think if there were hundreds of justices, that would mean their opinions would start to reflect the general population.

@rob @benroyce @RickiTarr
Also with more Justices you don't have to have all of them deciding on every case. Imagine if every case got assigned to 9 Justices drawn randomly from a pool of 18. Now you would have to buy 14/18 Justices to make sure you get the verdict you want instead of 5/9, almost triple the number.
@rob @benroyce @RickiTarr
Actually that might also be something to do now to immediately unfuck the Court a bit, maybe? If cases before the SC were decided by a random panel of 3 random Justices instead of all of them, the six stooges sitting on the bench would no longer be guaranteed to get their way each and every time.

@rob @benroyce @RickiTarr

If there were hundreds of judges we wouldn't have this judicial cult of personality around them. It would be a lot easier to remove corrupt individuals without one side feeling like they've lost clout for a generation.

@benroyce @RickiTarr F the GOP twice on Sundays.
@DarkAthena @benroyce @RickiTarr @strangeculprits
I'm desperately hoping all of you who are US citizens will HOLD YOUR NOSE and vote for the current administration (the lesser of two evils) anyway, despite their supporting Israel's final Gazauschwitz solution; this is much more important than your comments here (or mine).

@wattdefalk @DarkAthena @RickiTarr @strangeculprits

he's not running

we're voting for kamala harris

@benroyce
thanks, but you'll notice that I quickly corrected that mistake I made in the throes of passion and despair

@benroyce @RickiTarr

That's been exactly the problem since I first started paying attention to politics when I was 19. Over and over, Republicans demanded that Democrats treat them seriously and play by the rules only to unapologetically pull a fast one at the first opportunity. I wasn't drawn to the Democrats so much as I was absolutely repulsed by the Republicans.

I'm tired of having the football pulled out from under me over and over again. Fuck 'em.
