I want to start noticing minor holidays and having (and sharing, at least to begin with) thoughts about them. Today is #NationalPaniniDay. I don't know when/if I've had an actual panini, but I can say sandwiches are tasty, especially to a hungover rodent.
Today is #VinylRecordDay. I have to say, I don't get the appeal. But also, as someone who tends to use shitty headphones, I'm probably not the target audience
Today is #NationalCreamsicleDay. I'm trying to remember the last time I had a creamsicle. And getting distracted by the fact that I'm more familiar with the flavor combo as a thing that comes in a cup with a wooden paddle than I am as a popsicle.
Today is both #NationalSpongeCakeDay and #ButteredCornDay. I couldn't decide which to comment on so I decided to mention both. Sponge cake with strawberries is tasty, and so is buttered corn with Northwoods seasoning. And both seem appropriate for this time of year (even if it doesn't feel like it today because of all the rain)
For today's random holiday mention, I was going to complain about the fact that it being both #NationalBabyBackRibsDay and #NationalWelshRarebitDay makes it hard to come up with something to say as a vegetarian. But then I was reading the description for Welsh Rarebit/Rabbit Day because of the fun fact that "rabbit" is actually the older of the two names. Turns out Welsh Rabbit is vegetarian. It sounds it's like a cross between beer cheese soup and cheese fondue, only in spreadable form? Sounds tasty. And since this is already steam of consciousness wall of text, maybe I'll add that I got hooked on beer cheese soup when I was living in Wisconsin. What a (sarcastic) surprise.
