The state of the Republican brain in 2024. You can't make this shit up. [via @brainnotonyet.bsky.social‬]

@stevesilberman

“I’m Voting For the Felon” is a level of cognitive dissonance that surely Orwell would applaud…a new dictionary definition of Doublethink?

@JugglingWithEggs @stevesilberman
The same "#proFelon" hypocrites impeached Bill Clinton for committing the unforgivable crime of lying under oath about having an affair with an intern.

"You simply can't have a president in office who willfully broke the law... unless they have an "R" after their name." #IOKIYAR

@stevesilberman Deprogramming the cult will be a huge job.
@stevesilberman @themamiyaman At this rate, it involves, at minimum, putting half of the US in jail. The best moment to have gone nuclear with Confederates was at the end of the Civil War, the second best moment is now.
@stevesilberman It makes perfect sense when you read it as, "I side with the powerful and want to give them more power."

@stevesilberman I worry this may end up speaking for the American character.

I hope sound minds rise against this.

@stevesilberman WAR IS PEACE. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY.
@stevesilberman I'm surprised I haven't seen this in my neighborhood 🙄
@stevesilberman Looks like my neighbors house
@stevesilberman The “Thin Blue Line” is the new Confederate flag.
@JamesPadraicR @stevesilberman 💯 - it's the anti-Black Lives Matter symbol after all

@stevesilberman

Flags, anthems, crowds, chants, booing, cheering, slogans, labels, patriotism, nationalism, it all short-circuits the brain.

It's in America's fundamental character.

@stevesilberman They have their convictions…

@stevesilberman

Good to know where the weird neighbors live.

@stevesilberman Incredible! As unbelievable as theiur leader--who, I have no doubt in an email told 'his peons'--don't worry about being confused--I will always lead you.
@stevesilberman instead of these two signs, the person really only needs one that reads: MORON #politics #Trump
@stevesilberman
Republican support for "law and order" has always been more about Segregationist social order than about law.
@stevesilberman I’m genuinely overwhelmingly surprised Trump hasn’t been booted off the race regarding his THIRTY FOUR FELONIES!!!
@stevesilberman What gets me is these mindless middle middle/lower lower class families gain nothing but pain and suffering if the Orange Puss Bucket gets re-elected. They retained nothing about the great depression and the next one will make the first on look like a walk in the park.

@stevesilberman

Should say

"I'm voting for the fascist KKK neo-Nazi" and have a burning cross and an "arbeit macht frei" gate adorned with swastikas on their front yard

But yeah. That's about it.

@stevesilberman O The Irony... but if yo manage to point it out to them (and they actually 'get it' 🙄 ) they will tell you "he's not a felon and this whole trial/charges etc was a sham and it's a kangaroo court" etc... soooo...🤷‍♀️

@stevesilberman

Their brains have been conditioned into one-way filters. "See, Trump's indictments/impeachments/lost-elections are signs of how powerful he is and how much the evil/corrupt Dems fear him." and "We back the blue because we need them to crack some heads (usually black or brown ones) just like we need our bully champion Trump to crack heads of the Deep State Woke Trans Mob."

They see no contradiction or moral difference between Law and Order and Might makes Right.

@stevesilberman what I heard cops vote GOP not because they are selfish, racist or fascist or just weird, it is because democrats will defund them... Only if Olympics had a mental gymnastics competition MAGA can do a clean sweep of medals.
@stevesilberman
The level of cognative dissonance is astounding.

@stevesilberman
How do you deal with your feelings about people, especially ones you know, who voted for the felon and are willing to do it again?

I'm profoundly disappointed in them, yet before all of this tragedy I knew many of them to be good people.

@stargazersmith If they’re still planning on voting for TFG, they have lost their goodness. @stevesilberman
@stevesilberman I mean... Yeah, if you look at it from a theoretical angle it makes zero sense to support "law enforcement" and an unrepentant criminal in the same breath. But they don't really expect cops to enforce the laws as written and agreed upon. They don't even really want cops following the law because that gets in the way of oppressing the people who need oppressing. What they actually support is a criminal leader of a police state, which is totally consistent with history & logic
@stevesilberman It's shocking today, but can you imagine how this will look to sane people 25 years from now?
@billbennett @stevesilberman like the doctor who recommended smoking to cure illness? Looks like that to me right now and for a while back too.
@stevesilberman As far as my lifelong of observing the landscape here in Sweden-- NO ONE, here, puts up little signs on their lawn implying about what kind of political alignment they stand at...no one...
@stevesilberman Well, there goes my #felonsForTrump hashtag - nobody will think it's a parody any more 😏
@stevesilberman I like the "Take America Back" banner. This is indeed what americans are currently doing: taking the country back from Putin and his Republican henchmen.
@stevesilberman
What do you know - MAGAts CAN hold two conflicting ideas simultaneously- on their lawns, if not in their heads.
@stevesilberman at Easter my neighbor had the Eff Biden sign next to a sign about church service times in his yard. They literally killed irony and buried it.
@stevesilberman
I long for the old days, when words had meaning;
words should matter.

@stevesilberman

George Orwell foresaw Republican doublethink.

@stevesilberman
The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one.
