I think my first read is going to be O.V. Vijayan's 'After the Hanging' short stories collection.
Ok started with a different (and much more contemporary) book for my #Indianbooks in #translation. I finished Vasudhendra's 'Tejo-Tungabhadra', originally in Kannada, translated by Maithreyi Karnoor. It was a delightful read, and a perfect follow on to Rushdie's Victory City. One really doesn't learn enough about the Vijayanagara, Chola or other southern kingdoms in school.
