So, I have just returned home from #holliday - it was a great experience to visit #Riga - the capital of #Latvia

If you take a trip there, you should definately visit The Riga War Museum, which tells the story of the bloody and violent past of the Baltic nation, who has been occupied several times. More on tha tlater in this thread.

Both by the German empire in mideval times, but also by the Russian empire in the 18th century, by Poland-Lithuania and more recently of course by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

When you go for a walk in the city, you can sort of feel the history of the city, especially at the Independence Square and the Independence monument.

One of the first things, you see, when you enter the war museum is this wagon, called #Orlik. It was donated by Latvia and then deployed to #Ukraine in 2022 and did stellar duty in the eastern front, including Izium, and then returned to Latvia, and now on display at the museum.
