New paper out in Biological Reviews: Aligning spatial ecological theory with the study of clonal organisms: the case of fungal coexistence

Established ecological theory has focused on unitary organisms. Fungi are modular, and this creates a lot of issues.

We introduce the novel concept of the unit of community interactions (UCI), a conceptual tool for applying modern coexistence theory to communities of modular organisms.
