I must install a new #GNU #Linux OS on my kid's computer... My dilemma is #Debian or #Devuan...

Last time (on a different laptop) #Debian gave me a lot of headaches but #Devuan is my personal preference, I would like to avoid reflecting upon him my personal biases... On the other hand Devuan is giving me a lot of less trouble on old hardware than Debian. Most of the time the issues are systemd unit services broken that provoke wrong behavior — Debian doesn't fix broken systemd units as other distros do — and I am not interested in fixing anything related with #systemshit.

You should try Live USB, may be not only Debian or Devuan but OpenBSD or Fedora.
Take care

It is for school any BSD will have a lot of limitations.

Also I do install only Debian or Devuan OSs.

If you are committing to support as the sysadmin, install whatever makes you happier.

(I would have been happier if Devuan had become a sub-project of Debian; most Debian flavors are really commitments to sustaining 3-30 packages and should be available from the main repos and from the installer as a taskselect option. But I also recognize that the Devuan folks had serious policy disagreements.)

Yes I will, my kid is still a... kid...
