Baral'heia Stormdancer ΘΔ🐲The wyvern and I are thinking about taking a vacation and hitting up a furcon next month... Looking at either #DenFur or #TexasFurrySiesta. Never been to either one though. Anyone have any experience with either con?
Okay so maybe not #DenFur. They don't seem to have their shit together at all - no information on their website or social media as to when pre-reg or the hotel room block closes, online reservations for the main hotel have already closed when you click through the link, their "official updates" channel on Telegram hasn't been updated since January 2022, and there doesn't appear to be a working community chat for DenFur either (there's a waiting room using a chatbot to invite people to such a group, but the invite link the bot gives you is either invalid or expired)
Okay so I finally found a working link to the Denfur telegram group from their website. Not sure why Telegram's global search couldn't find it. Still tho, yeesh.
Okay so.... the room blocks are closed for either convention so I'm at the mercy of discount travel booking sites if I want to try to go - or else I'm gonna have to pay rack rate (ouch).

@duncandahusky I've stayed in worse haha. But I included that bit mainly just for the meme. All I really care about is having a nice comfortable room, I don't need luxury amenities or anything (though they are def nice bonuses).
Also I appreciate the link, but after digging into it, it looks like that AirBnB listing is just for a hotel room at the Homewood Suites... and they list the same room at the same price on travel sites too. The price I've found at the Sonesta is significantly cheaper so that's why I was looking hard at doing that instead.
nytpu@baralheia Yeah, I was exploring maybe going to DenFur just because it's like a 30 minute drive from me so not as big as a commitment as travelling to a con, but their whole online presence is messed up. Even weirder that it's still messed up now, I thought maybe no one had bothered fixing the website since I was looking in January (IIRC it was still plastered with 2023-related stuff)
@nytpu The website does have all the info for 2024 on it now, not seeing any mentions to 2023 still hanging around... so at least that. I know AEIOU had a big shakeup in January with a bunch of people quitting, but I never heard any detail on what that was all about. Also finally found the Telegram group, you have to click the Telegram icon at the bottom of the main page to get to it. Telegram's global search won't find it.
