I haven't been able to get on much recently, because I'm helping my family prepare for our annual sundance ceremony.

We've got a bunch we're working on, one thing is to get a kitchen set up for serving food they'll like to the kids that come out. We've got the appliances to get it done - including fun things like the solar stove I'm linking a video of in the replies - but we need more funds for food, and fuel for our chainsaws and trucks, to go get the pine we'll use to make the kitchen structure.

Here's a demo of our solar stove, which we're planning to use in making frybread, without having to keep a fire stoked.

Short update for followers new and old: I'm going to be in lots of conversations over the next couple months that'll help give a more legible shape to the work me and my family are doing here on Pine Ridge, but regardless of that, winter is coming up soon and we'll need all the support we can get.

In addition to one-off donations for special causes like sundance prep, monthly supporters are Ko-fi are critical: that's the money me and my family use to sustain ourselves while we work to end apartheid conditions in literally the poorest place within the United States.

That number - excuse me, URL - again is https://ko-fi.com/emsenn

It's fucked the #MastodonforHarris hashtag has apparently raised about $350,000 for her campaign.

But y'know what's a little more fucked?

That I see folk who follow me, who don't donate to me, posting it!

What the fuck are you doing?

How about let's try this:

#MastodonForLandBack

You wanna make this software funded by telecom companies stand for something? Maybe pick something you'd be proud to tell kids about when you're old...

...if #climatechange doesn't wipe us out first. Which is a good segue to, it's #Indigenous ways of living that have protected so much land, and we are willingly providing the model for how to adapt to changes we're all experiencing.

Think of it this way: A lot of y'all have some portion of your income invested in the status quo. That's a fair bet: it's been around your whole life and then some (but not much longer, tbh).

But I'd suggest this: diversify your portfolio. If you're investing in capitalism (and any investment with capital *is*) - considering investing in alternative economic systems, like #MutualAid, #IndigenousMutualAid.

If you're investing in settler-colonialism (and any participation in settlerism *is*) - considering investing in alternative social systems - #IndigenousAutonomy, #IndigenousSovereignty

There's all sorts of ways to support this stuff - check the thread this is in reply to for some info about what support I need.

Okay but no really #MastodonForLandBack cause [due to some white people being deeply unserious and treating requests for material solidarity like opportunities to go on ethnotourist vacations on the reservation] we're out two days of Sundance prep and most a tank of gas.

If anyone else wants to make posts with my ko-fi on it, over the next few weeks, that'd also be super duper appreciated. Even without the superfluous work, I'm hella busy each day and keeping my laptop charged (and thinking of how to write posts people will read) is tricky.

Thank you to a new donor, and an extra gift from a subscriber - we're able to refill the gas in the truck, and get a couple gallons for our chainsaws.

Which is great! It lets us do important work!

But also means we'll need more funds before too long. I'd love to stay ahead of it, and not end up with downtime because no one has money to get more gas.

So, let's keep the momentum going: share this post, or any in the thread, please!

ccording to my phone and truck, I walked 6 miles today, drove 12 miles between like, going between the vairous homes you see grouped in the videos on my YouTube, and sundance grounds, 8 miles in the backcountry, and 112 miles between towns.

I'm really not joking about needing just, a lot of fuel to keep folk hydrated, fed, and moving toward getting our ceremony done.

Oh dang, I was so busy today I forgot to share one of the things that has us so busy!!

Tomorrow, social workers are gonna come to check out one of the trailers to make sure it's a good home, cause we're gonna be watching some new nephew for a few months or years.

I'm sure most of y'all reading have felt the stress of cleaning before a guest; imagine if the consequences of not getting it done right were a kid potentially going into the adoption system, getting disconnected from their family's culture and spirituality.

When we're out picking up mail and scavenging for pallets and other scrap tomorrow, I'd love to be able to pop to the store to get things like soda and ice to toss in a cooler, and maybe some potato chips or something, to keep folks morale up, as we keep on cleaning tomorrow morning.

Found some time for a break this mid-morning, so I'll try and share some updates!

The couple got approved so now we've got a new brother-cousin living around.

Prep for Sundance has been going well, and we're getting the kitchen for feeding kids built! Next step is getting enough food to keep up with those appetites!

We'll be going into the city tomorrow to get as much as we can when we pick up a cousin from the airport, so any donations that come in today would really help with that.

To give an idea of things, we're expecting to need to feed about 30-50 kids for 5+ days, which is no small feat, even outside the reservation.

@emsenn is there anything the kids want or need, specifically?
