The trial of #Russian soldiers who shot nine members of the #Kapkanets family in #Volnovakha has begun.
The military court in #Rostov_on_Don began to consider the criminal case of mass murder in #Volnovakha (#DPR). According to the #Russian Investigative Committee, at the end of October 2023, #Russian contract soldiers #Stanislav_Rau and #Anton_Sopov shot nine members of the #Kapkanets family, including children four and nine years old.
At the request of the prosecutor, the case will be heard behind closed doors. #Rau is 28 years old. He was born in the village of #Volchikha, #Altai Territory, and lived in #Petropavlovsk_Kamchatsky. 21-year-old #Sopov from the village of #Yaroslavsky, #Primorsky Territory.
They killed the family using special “#Val” or “#Vintorez” machine guns, designed for silent shooting.
The victims were the owners of the house, 53-year-old #Eduard_Kapkanets and his wife #Tatyana, their two adult sons with their wives, a nine-year-old granddaughter, a four-year-old grandson and another distant relative of the owners, the publication writes.
According to preliminary data, the massacre could be connected with an attempt by the military to get vodka.
