Jazz Institute of Chicago presents: Peddling Music in Rhythm
The Jazz Institute of Chicago presents Peddling Music in Rhythm. Peddling Music In Rhythm is an interactive musical performance lead by vocalist & storyteller Maggie Brown. Peddling Music In Rhythm gathers its inspiration from the street cries and hollers encapsulated in the songs and poetry of her father, Oscar Brown, Jr. Today’s food trucks, pop-up tamale, fruit and popsicle carts, are preceded by days when commerce and enterprise was conducted by the Watermelon Man, newspaper boys, the Ice Man, Ragman and many more. Characters who had a rhythmic, melodic way of broadcasting their arrival were once heard up and down the streets and alleys of Chicago.
