In other news my phone broke today. It was going to cost more to fix than to replace so I will replace it with a PinePhone Pro. Any recommendations for OS?

@ZoDoneRightNow Honestly depends what you do with your phone.
@krutonium I use it for calls, texts and webapps, no internet banking. Will need to access Signal from it. Id also like a high degree of combustibility.
@ZoDoneRightNow Augh I wish I had recent experience with a Pinephone. Last I checked calls and texts were still annoying to handle Linux side, though that may have changed. Id get more people to weight in, though I'd say for now flash ASOP/Android
@krutonium Ill tinker and work it out when I have it in my hands. I think some have gotten postmarket to work with calls and texts but if I have to run asop android I will

@ZoDoneRightNow PostMarketOS works for me! I love that it's reactive, lightweight, and thought for such devices...

Important also is the choice of interface: Phosh seems like the most mature, that really feels like "a smartphone" (yikes!), Plasma is valid too...

I personally love #sxmo, the hacker's shell-based resource-friendly, hackable, extendable, experimental interface :) (at least it's not trying to look like an an#$%droid or i#%!phone..)

u can try and switch

#pinephone #postmarketOS

@jz I had my eyes on sxmo, it could be interesting. I think I might try that and plasma first
@jz Oh, my! I have instantly fallen in love with #sxmo. I am using #postmarketos as the os, I tried plasma first and hated it, might try #phosh but definitely love the feel of having a tiling window manager on my phone. Texting, calls and wifi work out of the gate, will try to get signal working tomorrow, maybe with axolotl.

I like how the menu system works and found composing sms using vim particularly interesting.

Definitely some kinks for me to work out but it wouldn't be fun if there wasn't c:

@ZoDoneRightNow have you noticed yet that most sxmo_ scripts running bemenu, when used through ssh give you a terminal-based menu, perfectly usable? \o/

sshing to your mobile computer to do anything you have to do, including backing everything up, managing packages, etc.. feels like true computing freedom!

glad you enjoy it!! <3
