Me: Sure, this price is pretty good, and I've been thinking about it for a while, but do I *really* need a new personal laptop?
Current personal laptop: Hey, remember the Blue Screen of Death? Did you know I can still do that?!

Looks like I'll have a new #RStats #HexSticker holder (and, ya know, machine to do things on) on Saturday!

@jonthegeek what are you getting?
@lwpembleton @jonthegeek same question, still trying to figure if i go the mac refurbish way or a linux laptop

@defuneste @lwpembleton in my experience, nobody wants my unpopular opinion when it comes to laptop advice. Note how the current one is dying 🙃

But if you're interested, it's an LG gram 17 (specifically 17Z90R-K.AAB8U1, which I think means "the one with Intel 13th Gen Core i7"). Amazon recommended it and PCMag said it's the best for most users, and cons included "poor audio" (I almost never intentionally unmute my non-headphone speakers).

@jonthegeek I just saw this and couldn't help but wonder if it was related to you, do you happen to have CrowdStrike on that laptop? https://x.com/troyhunt/status/1814174010202345761
Troy Hunt (@troyhunt) on X

Something super weird happening right now: just been called by several totally different media outlets in the last few minutes, all with Windows machines suddenly BSoD’ing (Blue Screen of Death). Anyone else seen this? Seems to be entering recovery mode:

@davis I do not! This old laptop has been steadily marching toward death, so *I'm* pretty sure the timing was coincidental. I was able to use it to check on @DSLCvideo this morning, so I don't THINK I'm getting hit by this thing, but I haven't read details yet.
