I skate across topics - infrastructure, politics, organisational structures and modelling, business and management styles, history, systems thinking, ux and interaction design, town planning, and more, connecting them all together. It’s not typical autistic deep special interest. But there is a thread or theme.

@Alice Also, autistic people are stereotypically able to see patterns that neurotypicals can’t. I am the exact opposite. I can’t see patterns for shit. At the same time I have a bunch of very specific sensory issues, so I guess it evens out.

@anubis2814 @Alice Somehow I dodged that bullet, but my oldest kid appears to have made up for that. Interestingly, they suffer the most when they come back to visit the US. In Germany they’re usually fine. Weird.

Dan Neuman 🇨🇦@Susan60 @Alice @RickiTarr I think there are a lot of guys (and maybe some women) with Spreadsheet Autism, but that is a marketable trait, so nobody thinks of it as autism.
This is a whole other conversation! Skills that are valued by capitalist society make a person’s “eccentricities” a lot more acceptable. And given that those skills are more encouraged & supported in men… don’t get me started!
