Confusing fire name of the day. The Texas Fire, in Idaho. (fire names are locally set, and usually refer to local landmarks and roads). #TexasFire
@ai6yr 😯 That's ~50 miles from where my dad was born— basically on the other side of the Nez Perce reservation, just outside (to be clear, Dad was just an garden variety white guy).
@jhv Way to go, Idaho! 😉
@ai6yr It bugs me a little bit when people trash Idaho. There are probably valid reasons for trashing the state, but people there I knew were counterexamples of the reasons for the trashing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ For example, the Vilases & Castles got along just fine with the Nez Perce.
@jhv I was just quoting a line from Toy Story.
@ai6yr Fire names are often interesting with some odd irony. A quick peek into Watch Duty around my neck of the woods shows there was a Horse Fire and a Water Dog fire.
@ai6yr It’s named for the ridge, Texas Ridge.
@pdiff1 Thanks, figured it was a local landmark!
@ai6yr They really hammered on it yesterday trying to make sure the local town of Kendrick didn’t become the next Paradise, CA. Seems better today, but no new updates. Then again, we’re headed for 100+ temps by the weekend. 🫤
@pdiff1 Yeah, definitely no good torching a town. Hope it holds!
