Robert Evans and other reporters otg at the Republican National Convention say police shot and killed a homeless man in the surrounding neighborhood. According to locals, the man who died lived in a tent in the community and sometimes got into arguments which typically did not become physical.

They are demanding answers from the cops.

Cops have wasted NO time releasing the bodycam footage to some reporters. Those who've seen it have posted a still of the moment a cop begins shooting at one of the two men while having a verbal argument. The footage is alleged to only show a verbal argument and as you can see when the cops started shooting none of the men had a weapon in hand.

Here's that bodycam footage. It certainly seems to align with witness statements that the cops did not give enough time for the man to comply, they did not deescalate at all nor did they use a less than lethal approach. Instead they shot Samuael Sharpe dead within seconds.

Given the sheer number of cops who were milling around looking for a riot to start it's hard to imagine why de-escalation was not attempted.

Local news is reporting that a vigil for Samuel Sharpe was rapidly held by the community and it turned into a protest march.

It's also been reported that the five officers who shot and killed a homeless man near the RNC were from Columbus Ohio and did not have any direct local oversight or liaison on this foot patrol.

The details about these cops being from out of state is critical. In witness interviews more than one person mentioned in the lead up to the RNC local politicians and cops promised that out of town cops would have a limited scope. Key to this was the promise that only local cops would be doing general community police work.
