@mazigazi @thomas_klopf His Blake book was where I first encountered him. But there was one little interpretation in the book that bothered me. I tracked him down and emailed him. He appreciated what I had to say. His book on the 20th century is great. His book on the Beatles and James Bond is great. All in all, a really insightful writer.
@dadakopf @thomas_klopf I know Blake’s work, but his book was the first I read about Blake. Definitely good for an entry point. the 20th century book is on my list. Glad to hear he was approachable and appreciated your comments!
@mazigazi @thomas_klopf The question was about the line Sooner murder an infant in its cradle than nurse unacted desires. I read “nurse” as in “nurse a drink.” He read it a different way, which confused the message that Blake was saying. In reply he said my meaning wasn’t around at that time. I checked my OED and told him it was used that way about 50 years before Blake. He heartily thanked me! Yes, he can take pop culture and turn it into a base for some deep philosophical and more discussion.
