It's only as difficult as it is because early on, the Masto Devs decided to pick a side on the quote-tweet debate, wherein attention-whores got mad that people could QT them and steal a tiny crumb of their attention.

Whereas intelligent, thoughtful people were using QT to say, e.g. "Here, this person has an interesting take on XYZ, and this is what I think about that." to their followers/audience.

But yeah, there's a TON of stuff I'd like to reblog, but I don't, 'cuz the OP should've CW'd, or ALT-texted, or both... and didn't.
@kelvin0mql @BeAware @blairgillam It seems like more and more clients are supporting quote-toots...I know @ivory does, at the least.

Vast majority of my mastodon activity is via a web browser. I'm not using a "client" in the way you imply.

Point being, quote-toot isn't supported by the server directly. In my opinion, it should be. But I understand why I might be in the minority in that regard.

I'm in the minority in a lot of ways. Smarter than most, better looking than most, a better driver than most, have an absolutely uncanny sense of pitch, the list goes on and on.

@kelvin0mql @BeAware @blairgillam @ivory It took me a bit of scrolling to find one of the times I'd used quote-tooting, but I'm not sure if this vase functionality comes from upstream Mastodon vs. the Hometown patches/modset my instance uses. 🤔

Ah right, I do have an account on a pure Mastodon instance, and, yeah, that is less than ideal. 😑
