What's your favourite #FreeSoftware that is #NotOnGitHub (or on other proprietary code forges like #GitLab.com)?

Let us know in the comments! Feel free to also share code from other #Forgejo instances, #Sourcehut or other platforms.

#FreeLibreSoftware #LibreSoftware #Opensource #FLOSS #FOSS #GiveUpGithub #GitHub

We have gotten lots of lovely answers with lots of lovely software projects hosted on various lovely forges! Thank you!

From BSDs to IRCs, developed using Git, DARCS or Mercurial, we love the responses so far! Keep them coming! πŸ’™

Or, perhaps take a look at the responses, you will definitely find something new! (100% money-back guarantee if you don't! πŸ˜‰)

@Codeberg Tor and GNOME! 🐾

@Codeberg Picking just one is hard! So I picked one that my entire family uses: Conversations, a fantastic XMPP client for Android.

And Conversations is the foundation for a couple of other XMPP clients. Like monocles, which I use and whichs source code is - of course - also on Codeberg. πŸ˜‰

and

The quite cool #aerc mail tui program: https://aerc-mail.org/

Disclosure: I'm the author of the smederee. ;-)

git-annex

@Codeberg love those (there is more that I can't remember right now):
- senpai: IRC client https://git.sr.ht/~delthas/senpai/

@Codeberg since nobody's mentioned it yet I obviously have to put in a vote for @forgejo https://forgejo.org
Forgejo – Beyond coding. We forge.

Forgejo is a self-hosted lightweight software forge. Easy to install and low maintenance, it just does the job.

@caesar @Codeberg Sorry to be that guy, but there are like 3+ mentions of @forgejo above you. πŸ˜† Maybe, it has to do with the delay in federating this thread on to indieweb.social.

@yura @Codeberg it's just a read-only mirror for convenience.
@Codeberg Right now the only thing I can really think of is Conversations, which makes its home on Codeberg. Although pretty much all of GNOME is on their GitLab, and KDE too, and they're both absolutely stellar. So it's hard to pick.
@Codeberg gitlab has an open source community source control version?
@Codeberg Mostly here, though recently I can't migrate my github pages when updating my website.
@Codeberg I'd show the bug I'm getting, but whenever I do that on Github, they treat me like I'm the malicious user and not them, I had that experience with Loophole site.
@Codeberg.org How about the streams repository on Codeberg itself? It contains the probably most advanced and innovative Fediverse server software available right now, created and maintained by the guy who gave us Friendica and Hubzilla, and the result of several forks of the latter.

@Codeberg @unfa That would probably have to be `foot`.
Fully native & minimalist Wayland terminal that I use every day. Although minimalist, it has many semi-hidden features like piping scrollback URLs to a fuzzy-find launcher app of choice (e.g. `rofi`, `wofi`, `dmenu`, `fuzzel`, etc...)
