I'm on vacation and one of the #summertime activites I enjoy is #swiming outdoors. Be it sea or just a lake, it is more fun than a swimming pool. One challenge that is tied to that is that I have a #smartwatch and I like to #track my activities. And when I'm swimming, my watch are unable to pin point my possition while underwater. And when I'm swimming, I ussually have my hands in the water. To log my swim, I have to periodically raise my hand above the water to get better signal and #GPS position lock. That kinda spoils the fun and is not very convenient. If I had #opensource watch, I could hack my way around it constructing some GPS #bluetooth buoy 🤔But when I was looking for a smart watch the open ones were not that #waterproof. Is GPS buoy a thing, am I only one wanting to track where I have been swimming or is there some other solution?
I had a great idea yesterday that it might be because I mostly use #breaststroke and I should try #frontcrawl so my hand would be out of the water half of the time. Tried it today and it helped a little. I got a #GPS lock few times but most of the time, I was without a signal anyway even though I tried to swim slowly so I would have my watch in the air longer.
