"For those who have remained immune to The Hunger Games’ hype (and that’s just silly—read the books already!), Suzanne Collins’ story revolves around a cruel yearly pageant held in the country of Panem: One boy and one girl from each of 12 “districts” scattered through what used to be the United States are sent to battle to the death in a reality TV competition. Twenty-three will die; one will survive to live a life of luxury. We’re told that the games were instituted by the leaders of the Capitol, which governs Panem, to keep the district residents docile: The forced sacrifice of their children reminds them that they are allowed to live only so that they may provide the Capitol with goods and entertainment, panem et circenses."

@DoomsdaysCW In the end, Capitol has a problem: District 13 (which rebelled against them) was their nuclear powerplant and weapons makers, meaning Capitol has to face a nuclear-armed opponent.

When District 13 says "if we burn, you burn with us!" they MEAN it

@DoomsdaysCW I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Trump is aggressively trying to legalize the abuse of children, targeting queer youth, and trying to eliminate education completely. These fascist cowards know that their time is up. That the next generation to come to power WILL bring about the socialist Utopia Star Trek and other egalitarian fiction depicts. The greedy are terrified.

@hardleft And also, what you just posted is why is continue to post on #SolarPunkSunday -- even if I'm not feeling it at first. We need to have our eyes on the prize -- an egalitarian, sustainable human civilization that is in harmony with our planet and the universe. Only then will will be worthy of the Federation (which I believe exists).
