@david_megginson @eu @germany
I am taking the bait 😀

I am offering you three avenues:
• There is agreement across Europe that "collective security, sphere of interest, national alliances" and economic priority brought internal stability until at least 2014 (invasion of Crimea).

• What is gaining traction is the realization that the EU must change path and decisions too: energy switchover and involvement in NATO.

• What a few persons contend is that the "French problem" and the "German problem" are core (and chores) to what must be addressed (and is not).
Regarding both countries, restoration of elites in 1945 was a basis for continued extractivism and war.

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] It is not absurd but a logical result of German antisemitism. The German right never saw Jews as legitimate citizens of Europe, and they like a political philosophy (Zionism) that has us leaving our homes and moving, far away, to Palestine.

The government coalition in @germany broke up yesterday, notably over financing (budget, economy).

"Under rules created to prevent the kind of coalition chaos that hastened the end of Germany's interwar democracy, the chancellor largely controls the pace of events: the opposition can only push him out earlier if they can find a majority for a specific alternative chancellor, which would be challenging with current parliamentary arithmetic."

Chancellor wants confidence vote in January, elections in March.
Opposition conservatives say country cannot wait that long.
