Different #EV brands have different #charge port locations.

This has caused increasing frustration as the variety of cars has grown dramatically over the last decade.

Some say car companies should standardize...

#CircleK in #Norway says "Hold my non alcoholic beverage!"

If your car supports #CCS or #Chademo, then it WILL fit here!

@baardhaveland I'd wish we'd standardise on the charging port on the car front. It's not a pipe anymore, there's no reason for it to be in the back where the fuel tank used to be.

@skolima @baardhaveland Charge port on the front cost me quite a bit. I backed out after charging, noticed a car backing towards me, stopped, but he backed into me.

Insurance company set for "could not prove who moved and who stood still " and gave us both the fault.

You do not want a charge port on the front, as there are two many "regular paring" chargers, and you should back into these spots.

Front charge ports are also more likely to have issues / freeze stuck, in winter.

@lettosprey @baardhaveland There's so much expensive stuff on the front now that the charging port feels like the least of your worries 😐 And I did install a dash cam in case I've got a scrape and need a reliable witness.

@skolima "worry... it is more trying to open the port when it is crusted in ice and snow... I see how my car is on the front after a winter drive. I would hate to have the charge port there.

Regardless, to park front out is the recommended way. I am much more happy with side/back port than front that my leaf had.

@lettosprey @skolima

But... the whole point of the post was to show that standardisation is no longer necessary! It's fixed! 🥰

It doesn't matter how I park. The arm on top lets me reach every part of my car, no matter where the port is! 🤗

That said; My charge port is in the front. Which means two things:
1 - Winter isn't fun!
2 - Most(!) charging stations force me to reverse out, which is scientifically proven to be the worst way to exit a parking spot, and should be prohibited by law!

@baardhaveland @skolima This solution requires "charger on side" parking, I think, something that is not possible a lot of places. You need "charger front or back or car".

But, I have driven EV for 9 years now and never really have had issues either with front, back left or back right. Apart from the "needing to back out of parking" accident that made me decide never to get front charging again.

And due to parking size restrictions in many locations I dont think we ever get away from that drive / back in chargers.

But cables are getting longer and longer regardless, and this is helping a lot.

I really love the Kempower chargers, less "dominating" and can have loong cables too. The Circle K has nice cables, but horrible UI :P

Also. Laxbutiken. Our fave charge location, due to amazing food :P

@skolima @baardhaveland Yah I can use them without "wrong parking" because PS2 have same port location as Teslas. But the new super chargers have longer cables (though I still found them a bit of a pain to use)

Still, they often have so many chargers that even with people parking any way or fashion, you are more likely to find an available one. And they cost WAY less to use than most other networks.

I still prefer not to use them, cause Tesla...

@skolima @lettosprey

Here I'm talking about the struggles of charge ports in front freezing stuck during winter... And then you respond with pictures of chargers surrounded by palm trees in effing Valencia...

I'm not sure if I'm offended by this, or just really jealous... 😅

@baardhaveland I thought the "long cable chargers" were stuff that several are picking.

I am "lucky" to have mine on the same location as Tesla has theirs, so I can use their chargers with "correct parking" even on the short cable :P
