The Psalm: Psalm 48:1-14

The sons of #Korah celebrated #Zion.

The sons of Korah honored YHWH as great and praiseworthy on account of the greatness of Zion.

They considered it lofty, aesthetically pleasing, the joy of the earth, and the city of the great king.

God defended Zion; kings may attempt to attack it, yet they become terrified and retreat.

The sons of Korah have heard of YHWH's great deeds and have now seen them in Zion; they reflect on His covenant loyalty in His temple.

God is praised everywhere; Zion rejoiced, the towns of Judah are happy because of God's judgment.

The sons of Korah encouraged God's people to walk around Zion and consider it so as to tell the next generation, confident in God's defense and guidance.

Why did the #Israelites think so highly of the #Temple complex?
